April 2025 Studio Update
Hello friends! Below you will find an update on what's going on in the studio, and what's been inspiring me lately.
There is a joke among military spouses that there is a deployment version of Murphy's Law - anything that can go wrong (when a spouse deploys), will go wrong. That being said… this has been the month of minimal time to do anything other than survive each day. So while this has been a slower month for creative work progress, I am infinitely proud of myself for still managing to maintain this seemingly insignificant short daily practice, and I am increasingly grateful for the outlet that I have in my artwork.
This painting came from one of the few days that I was actually able to get my paintbrushes out - it resulted in a fun and different-for-me painting.
It has been on my wish list for literal YEARS now to submit a cover design for the Golden Coil annual design contest… well of course this year's short submission window fell right on the deployment date, but I got it done!!
It was no doubt extremely rushed and down to the wire, but the fact that I got it done during this season made me proud. This was my submission.
What’s been inspiring me lately:
My amazing sister knew I'd have some time to paint over my birthday weekend when my parents came down to help for a few days - so in advance, she sent these gorgeous roses from Grace Rose Farm.
I had a little bit of time to paint some quick abstracts of them on raw canvas and thoroughly enjoyed having a live model for once. The colors and details found in these roses are insane.
That’s all for now!
Thank you as always for your support - it means the world to me. Have a wonderful spring!
