June 2024 Studio Update
as well as some tidbits of everyday beauty, inspiration, and encouragement
Over the past few weeks, I have been putting together a new collection, which I am very excited about! It is a bit different than my usual intuitive abstract paintings; after I released my “Lemons on paper, No. 1” painting this spring, I've continued to be more in the mood for some detailed realistic citrus fruit paintings! I am planning to have several citrus fruit options on the same handmade cotton paper (the texture is so good), and some smaller stretched canvas pieces (think 11x14 inches).
I also posted an instagram recently about how I bought a giant roll of raw canvas at the beginning of this year (almost as tall as me!), and how I have had a blast with it. The raw nature of the canvas provides totally different challenges than what I am used to, and is a great chance for growth.
I have no plans for it currently other than fun, and am going to let these bigger paintings take shape throughout the year as they will and just see what happens.
NOTICING THE BEAUTY AND JOY IN THE DAY TO DAY:
- Beautiful red Bird of Paradise flowers in my yard. It has been a wonderful freedom lately to let myself just notice and appreciate these things, and leave it at that.
- Toddler sausage feet in bright colored Tevas.
- This album (but really, if you're in a funk or just trying to get through a string of hard days…put this on in the background while you're making dinner, driving, or whatever and watch what it does to your mood).
As always, thank you for your continued support. I couldn't do this without you!
